"....right out of the Gay Nineties...."  That's what the postcard says.  Of course they are referring to the 1890's, turn of the century, Main Street, USA.  They certainly don't mean the 1990's because this fabulous photo of the Dapper Dans in their striped vests and colorful pants was taken in the early 1970's.  This is the final chronologically numbered postcard in the early 0111 series before they skip ahead....right down the middle of Main Street, USA.  Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Here is a planning guide for Walt Disney World from early 1981, prior to the official launch of their Tencennial celebration.  The cover uses the right-justified Big-D/Globe Head logo similar to the GAF style logos of the mid-70's but not identical.  

"Seasons in the fun!  Choosing the right time of year to visit is an important ingredient for a great vacation."  The opening layout of the guide shares the best reasons (and images) for visiting in any season....including Winter's "sweater weather."

'Set aside two full days...to take in all six themed "lands" of the Magic Kingdom.'  The guide also highlights the EPCOT Center Preview theatre where guests may see a presentation on '...the most exciting new entertainment concept in the history of Walt Disney Productions.'  

I had the privilege of seeing the EPCOT Center Preview theatre in Town Square.  At 10, I remember thinking that it looked too 'educational.'

For all of my Walt Disney World philuminests out there (you know who you are), here is an early Main Street USA matchbook.  It is a 'front-striker' making it pre-1973.

The back uses a turn-of-the-century era font in keeping with its subject matter.  

The cover features the Dapper Dans.  I have never seen them on the bicycle?  I wonder if they still do that at WDW?
