| 16th Birthday Button |
This week, Walt Disney World celebrates its 43rd birthday. Each year, cast members are given commemorative pin back buttons to celebrate. The image on the button often reflects something significant from the year. For their 16th birthday in 1987, Walt Disney World recognized the 50th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is only fitting that I share this button now for the 43rd birthday with the opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Hmm....possibly a foreshadowing of this year's design? I happen to be traveling to Orlando for work this week, so maybe I will find out first hand.

Parking Ticket 1977 |
Back in 1977, it cost 50 cents to park at Walt Disney World. The front of the ticket had the traditional Big D/Globe Head logo and the early Bay Lake icon which can also be found on this early 1970's children's book. If you forgot where you parked, the back of the ticket provided you with a handy map with each lot labeled with a character (sorry, Doc). In 2011, the lots were renamed for Heroes and Villians and today it costs $17.

Sprite can Bashful, 1986 |
This week marked a milestone in the much anticipated opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Real live people (well, actors) got to ride the new coaster. I'm sure they were not like this "shy little fellow" that was featured on this Sprite can in 1986 as part of Coke's celebration of Walt Disney World's 15 Years. For those of you keeping track, Bashful is the 4th dwarf to be shown here. Who's next? Such anticipation.....
