Wanna See My Vacation Slides?

Pana-vue Slides, Pirates of the Caribbean
Set One, WDW-23
If you were born in the 1970's or earlier, you probably remember inviting people or being invited to a friend's home to see the slides of their vacation.  I imagine that these souvenirs were added in to make the experience even longer but at least to show some better images.  They are kind of like the stock photos you get now with your Memory Maker package.

$7 WDW Sweatshirt

Sweatshirt from A World of Gifts From the Magic Kingdom
pg 3, 1976
For all of those Floridians freezing this weekend from their 'winter' chill, while those of us in the North East get blanketed by feet of snow, here is a nice warm sweatshirt for only $7.  Now of course that was the price back in 1976 from this excellent gift catalog, A World of Gifts from the Magic Kingdom.  You can see more of this catalog in my posts from January of 2012.

Donald and the Ninja Turtles

Autograph Book
What do Donald Duck and the Ninja Turtles have to do with each other?  Nothing, really.  Except that theirs are the only signatures you will find in this WDW autograph book.  Presumably, obtained during the martial arts reptiles' short stint in the early 90's at the then named, Disney-MGM Studios.

Postcard #1?

Contemporary Resort
pre-opening postcard
(Fl-024)
It all started with a....postcard.  This pre-opening postcard of the Contemporary Resort is sequentially the first postcard created for the 1971 opening of Walt Disney World.  Why Fl-024 if it is the first card?  Great question.  My research has yet to figure that one out.  You can read more about these early postcards at WDW in Postcards.
