Tomorrowland Soda

Diet Coke can
Tomorrowland, 1986
If you were to assign a Coke product to Tomorrowland, what would it be?  I think Diet Coke makes sense.  Coca-cola certainly thought so in 1986 when they helped celebrate WDW's 15th Anniversary.  It is certainly better than their choice for Adventureland

Lessons Learned

Life magazine
October 15, 1971, pg. 45
As we celebrate the big sister's 60th birthday, here is a short article from the iconic October 15, 1971 edition of Life that discusses the lessons learned from the original park.  The biggest lesson: "We lost control of the environment."  Thus the reason WDW has over 27,000 acres compared to Disneyland's 200.  PS-Don't miss the caption under Mickey's picture.

Who Ate 239?

The Mickey Mouse Revue postcard
01110240
The last postcard in this early series from WDW was 'Welcome to Walt Disney World', 01110238.  The next postcard is this one featuring Alice in Wonderland from The Mickey Mouse Revue.  However, it is numbered 01110240.  From what I can tell, there was never a 01110239 card printed.  I am thinking maybe the creepy 'colorful forest of singing flowers' on this card may have something to do with the mystery card's disappearance.

Happy 4th of July

World magazine, 1977
pg. 26
Happy 4th of July, Walt Disney World style.  "When it comes to entertainment at Walt Disney World, your convention and banquet entertainment is limited only by your group's imagination."  Clearly the group in the picture above had some wild patriotic ideas.  This photo, from the 1977 World magazine, is taken from the Convention Magic section.  You can see more details, and awesome 70's photos, from the magazine in earlier posts: Welcome to Our World & The Other Side of the World.
